Digitization of
Employee appraisals and a worldwide training measure
THE CHALLENGE
The manual effort of the annual employee appraisals
and attract employees around the globe to a new process
High manual effort with too many Excel files.
Non-transparent and non-management-oriented reporting.
Communicating a new product development process worldwide in Corona times.
Woco is a very progressive company that is internationally active with more than 20 locations in Asia, North America and Europe. The fact that progress at this size arrives faster in some areas than in others has also posed challenges for personnel development. Especially with regard to the employee appraisals, which were conducted 1 time a year in written form.
“In my work as a personnel developer, I actually only worked with Excel.” In addition, the whole topic of reporting was a challenge, especially in the annual view. “It was really difficult for me to make general statements. Be it whether an activity was carried out as planned or what the response of the discussions was in an organizational unit. The administration was not only confusing and time-consuming, but also very error-prone. In the end, only I was able to access the full results. So the managers had to ask if they needed the content of the conversations again.”
“I tried to map all the reporting as well as possible with Excel… Excel certainly offers extensive possibilities, but there are also limits somewhere, especially when it comes to handling and visualization.”
“I can start all employee appraisals immediately (in the system)
understand. I enter the name of an employee and
see everything that has been agreed in the conversation. That’s how it should
just be too.
Very gratifying, but unplanned, the topic of e-learning was then on Ms. Bornmann’s to-do list. “There was a short-term desire to convey a new product development process (PEP) to the workforce.” In times when travel was not possible (Covid-19) and online training was not an option due to different time zones, a certain group of participants around the globe should be trained, i.e. by means of e-learning.
Until now, e-learning has only been available in individual departments or in special areas of application.
Ms. Bornmann’s task now was to document the employee appraisals that had already taken place in Evalea and to digitize the reporting and the process for next year’s interviews. There was also the question – we want to convey content globally across several locations, what is the best way to do that?
THE RESULT
Digital support in everyday work and e-learning as an information channel
Digital employee appraisals & automatic reports.
An e-learning for all purposes.
Growing together.
Since then, Woco has been supported by Evalea in employee appraisals and e-learning. “Working in the Evalea system has become a basic part of my daily routine,” Ms. Bornmann tells us about her daily work.
The results of the last employee appraisals were recorded and documented in Evalea. These can therefore still be viewed despite the new system and can be used as a basis for subsequent discussions. This also plays a major role in the acceptance of the new process.
The previously very complex administration has been raised to a completely different level and in the direction of digitization with Evalea. From now on, the Evalea Employee Appraisal module will take over the time-consuming administrative work and automate everything that can be automated. “Excel has been my biggest companion in the past… That will change in the future,” says Ms. Bornmann with a smile on her face. In addition to the process, the reports were also digitized.
Evalea has really become a part of my work.
The new product development process was also successfully communicated at all locations. For this purpose, an external training course was purchased and integrated into the Evalea e-learning module. Due to the close contact between Ms. Bornmann and her account manager, individual wishes and requirements for the system could be implemented and functions were also expanded. Limited to the systematic roll-out of the project, the Learning Journey module has made its contribution to the communication and delivery of e-learnings.
The e-learning was actually only planned as a measure for this project, but has since grown into the greatest added value for Ms. Bornmann. “I simply create an e-learning course and inform all relevant groups of people with activation. So I have to write significantly fewer emails than before. But it’s more convenient, especially for the other side, because employees no longer have to browse through everything to find the right information, but can simply go into the system and decide for themselves what content they want to consume. And this regardless of time and place.”
This availability of information is the greatest added value for me. In practical terms, this means that as part of talent management, there is an e-learning course for our talents in which all relevant content is available.
As far as her further plans are concerned, Ms. Bornmann tells us: “I would like to roll out all modules today. Today it is already clear that the modules competence management and seminar management are to be rolled out throughout Germany in the short term.”
What do you appreciate most about Evalea?
