IW Continuing Education Survey

The Cologne Institute for Economic Research surveys the development of continuing vocational training in Germany in a three-year cycle. For example, it records how many companies offer in-company training, how intensive the offer is, what costs are incurred for it and the role of further training in the company.

Adult Education Survey (AES)

The Adult Education Survey examines the educational participation of working-age adults. It replaces the continuing education reporting system carried out from 1991 to 2007 and is organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The study is being conducted in 29 countries of the European Union. In addition to personal information, questions are asked about different forms of learning activities, the description of training activities and information needs.

Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS)

The Continuing Vocational Training Survey, like the Adult Education Survey, is part of the EU statistics on lifelong learning. The survey has been mandatory for member states since 2005. In contrast to the Adult Education Survey, however, it is not individuals who are surveyed here, but companies. For example, it examines how many of the companies offer further training, how intensively it is carried out and how high the expenditure is for it.
